md3600i need help!!!!
We need to replace the memory in controller 0 due to parity error. The MD is in production. We cannot verify if it is safe to remove the controller without taking down the entire system.
When we try to take it off line we get error 2 The operation cannot complete because either (1) the current state of a component does not allow the operation to be completed, (2) the operation has been disabled in NVSRAM, or (3) there is a problem with the storage array. Please check blah, blah, blah and retry.
We bought the system as a refurb and cannot prove ownership so Dell will not take my money to open a support case. (that will be a rant all by itself)
Thanks
Jeff

Hello Jeff,
So what you will need to do is to move all virtual disk over to the second controller. Once all the VD are on the second controller then you should be able to offline the controller so that you can remove it & replace the controller. You don’t want to replace the controllers with the system up & running so that the new controller can copy the info needed to match the secondary controller.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

We could not move anything or take offline. The controller showed offline but the Guru indicated it was not safe to remove the controller. We needed verification before we did anything. After enough digging we presumed it was safe to remove it. Nervously we removed it and replaced the memory and everything is back to normal.
Thanks
