MD3220 Powerdown Procedure

Hi,

Can anyone tell me the best practice powerdown procedure for a SAS connected MD3220 array? I can't seem to find anything in documentation. There doesn't seem to be a shutdown controller type option in the MD Storage Manager, so do I just power off the controllers at the powersupply switch after shutting down the connected servers?

Thanks

Hello aohara1979,

Here is the best way to power down the San.

1.  Power down all servers that connect to the san

2.  Once all servers are powered down wait 2-3 minutes to ensure that the san has written all data that was in cache to the disks

3.  Once that is done then you can power down the San via the power switch on the power supplies.

Power Up Process

1.  Power on the San & Wait 5 minutes for san to boot up.

2.  Power on the servers

3. Verify that all storage is accessible.
