MD1200 usage method

Hi there

I have one sort of stupid question. And I'm hoping someone here will be able to point towards the right direction.

I have 4 physical servers. (DC, SQL, 2x Hyper-V) at the moment the way they work is not good (local raid storage each + backups to NAS) so I was thinking about doing something like this.

• Get MD1200, connect it to one of my Hyper-V boxes via SAS Raid card.
• Setup file server as a virtual instance and share folders from the storage to users.
• Setup something like freenas or similar and have other servers connect to the storage using iSCSI for either data file storage (if fast enough) or just backup storage. And leave the main data on local drives.

Is something like this feasible or just plain stupid?
