How can I span across multiple Equalogic to have one big iSCSI device?

Is it possible to buy a Dell Equalogic device and just keep adding disk space "forever."  Or if I have to add another Equalogic, can they be connected in such a way so that I have the same iSCSI ip address for both of the Equalogics?  Or do I need another set of ip addresses?

Thanks.  Yes.  Totally new, if you couldn't tell, so any help is appreciated.

Well, not forever… You can have up to 16 members per group (8 members per storage pool, depending on the model of array, the PS4xxx can only have 2 members and 2 per pool, but can be mixed with other array models).

Regarding the IP address, each group has one “Group IP”, this is the address that the host iSCSI initiators use to connect to the volumes you created in the group .  This address is also known as the WKA (well known address) for the group, this is virtual IP address.

Each array member, has its own set of IP address (because each member has its own set of physical interfaces that connect to you iSCSI SAN network, the number will vary on array model).  When the host iSCSI initiator makes a request for a group resource (connect to a volume), it requests this from the WKA first, then the array Firmware will redirected the connection request to a physical IP (or multiple if the host is setup for MPIO).

So as you add new members, the group IP doesn’t change.
