FS7500 Questions
Just had a new FS7500 installed and am in the process of learning how to use it. Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of documentation beyond the installation instructions.
Here are a few of the questions in no particular order:
The nodes in this device are running firmware version 1.0.1. According to the EQL support site, there is an update available to version 1.0.425 and a service pack. However it also says that 1.0.425 only supports PS firmware up to 5.2.4-H1. The PS4100 backing this FS7500 is running 5.2.5. So, I’m a bit confused as to whether or not I should install this new FS firmware.
When creating CIFS shares the default permissions to the share appear in Windows as: Everyone – Read and Execute, List, and Read. Root (Unix User\root) – Full Control. Root (Unix Group\root) - Read and Execute, List, and Read. Are those correct? I’m concerned that the Everyone group is given permissions at all. Plus, who/what are Unix User and Group? Since the device is integrated into AD, can I not set permissions within the EQL Group Manager application as I would with a common Windows file server?
I also need to allow non-AD accounts the ability to access CIFS shares. Within the EQL Group Manager I can create groups and users, but, what are they for? I do not see any place where I can actually assign permissions to shares with those users and groups.
Trying to not make mistakes in setting up shares and permissions that will be difficult to change later.
Thanks.
