Can someone clarify us on the nature of this Critical Message ?

Hello nfplacide,

So with the error that you stated that you are getting it is stating that the fan in power supply in slot one has failed. Now to confirm this we would need to look at a support log from your MD3220i to confirm that it is the fan & not the power supply. If it is the fan that has failed then will need to replace the power supply as the fan is built into the power supply.
