EQL PS6510X
Hello,
I have an EQL PS6510X enclosure that is currently out of warranty and it hasa drive failure. We bought a replacement drive for it, from Dell and replace the failed drive. This replacement drive automatically became the Hotspare. The array is now reporting that the firmware is out-of-date, except that it is a different firmware revision and the drive model is a different model. All the drives in the array, except the replacement drive, are ST3600002SS with firmware ED09. The replacement drive is an ST600MM0006 with firmware LE08. We have another EQL PS6510X enclosure that is not in use, with all ST3600002SS drives. I'm thinking of removing the "hotspare" drive, i.e ST600MM0006 and replace it with a ST3600002SS from the unused PS6510X enclosure. Is this safe to do?
Thanks,
Eric Buttrum

Don,
Thanks for your reply.
If I do replace the drive, how would I go about it? I haven't found anyway to put the drive "offline".
And the firmware running on the storage array is 6.0.2
Thanks,
Eric.
