Do SAS 5 and SAS 5/e HBA cards support the MD3000?

I have an MD3000 that is connected to two R710 servers. One port LED on one card is out. The MD Storage Manager shows not all LUNS are on their preferred paths. I purchased a M778G card and installed it in an R610 server to check out the revision. On the production R710s the BIOS header states

SAS 5/e. on the new card it states SAS 5. I downloaded the SAS HBA firmware that is on the production SAS cards and updated the new card. It said the update ran with no errors. I still have the SAS 5 vs SAS 5/e. The new card has the SAS 5/e sticker like the production server SAS cards. My question is are these cards interchangeable or do I have to find another SAS 5/e card? If so, what would that part number be?
