detecting powervault MD1000 from my poweredge 2970

hi, i have connected a SAS cable from my poweredge 2970 (with PERC 6 card installed) to a powervalut MD1000. My poweredge is running on linux 4.x. May i know if the powervault will be automatically detected by the poweredge server or do i need to manually mount the disks. If i need to mount manually, how do i go about doing it?

I think you for sure have to create the raids on the MD1000 through the bios raid manager before loading the O/S before you can use them.
