Dell PS6000XV Direct attach iSCSI or only switch based?

Hi,

With the PS6000XV Equallogic SAN, does it support directly connected host iSCSI or a network cable run directly from a host to the equallogic? Or do I have to use switches in between?

Thanks

Hi Donald,

Ok Thank you for the confirmation.

We inherited this PS6000XV form an acquisition with a pair of Dell servers we will use as ESXi hosts. We did not get the 2 x stackable switches. So I think we will have to use the 2 x business LAN switches. How would you suggest we configure the Equallogic array from the perspective of iSCSI without dedicated switches? Perhaps a dedicated VLAN for the iSCSI traffic? I understand the PS6000 has 4 x GbE ports per controller, I was thinking to aggregate these 1GbE ports if possible, 2 from each controller to each switch for failover. I am reading through the Equallogic configuration guide and it's alot to take in.

Any pointers? I don't yet have the SAN  online and I am new to Equallogic.

Thanks
