I have 2 question, hope sombody can help me:
1. Can I do the upgrade directly.
2. Can I leave my VMware ESX 4.1 servers up and running during the update, we choose ofcourse quite hours.
All suggestion will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Herman,
Answer to your questions:
1. Yes, you can go from v5.0.2 to 5.1.1-H2 directly. Also, if ever in doubt, you can download the "Updating Storage Array Firmware" instructions (located on the same page that you download the firmware), and in that document is a chart listing the update paths available (here is the chart from the latest firmware:
2. A: You first need to verified and/or set the disk timeout values on your all VMs. If they are set properly, then typically you shouldn't have any issues with the firmware update (the array needs to be restarted, aking @30 seconds).
B: The default iSCSI timeouts in ESX is usually setup and is more than long enough.
C: Certain Windows apps, like SQL or Exchange that have more sensitive timeouts that you may want to shut down those services first before doing the upgrade.
On the firmware download page, is a document titled "iSCSI Initiator and Operating System Considerations", that has more specific information on what timeouts are needed for different OS's.
Regards,
Joe

You should be fine upgrading, I would go to firmware 5.1.2 though which is the latest release. All iscsi connections should stay up and do a reconnect upon controller failover.
Post back if you have any issues!
