Concurrency on the Storage

Hello,

I have 2 hosts (PowerEdge R710) running Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.7, accessing a storage (PowerVault MD3200i) directly connected (no switches in between). Also I have installed and configured multipath.

Everything seemed to be working fine, until I noticed that when I make a change to the storage from host-1 (for example:creating a file) this change cannot be seen by host-2 while accessing the same storage (same directory)! In fact the only way host-2 could see the change was after a reboot...

Can anyone give me a hint of what I could be doing wrong?  :)
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

First of all thanks for the reply, I'm new to this all subject to configure storage and your reply was a big help.

Before seeing your reply, I did a test... writing something through host-1, reboot host-2 (changes made by host-1 are visible through host-2 now), in host-2 remove changes made by host-1, in host-1 (which still can see the change... make yet another change), reboot host-1, host-1 can't see any of the 2 changes that it made... something was terribly wrong with this.

Your reply really confirmed this problem. Thanks again.

Ok. I'll certainly consider the use of the extra switches. Although we are not expecting to have a great load when we move production. Even so, it's useful to be aware of the advantages of having the host connected to the storage through the switches.

Thanks again for all the help.

Cheers :)
