Cisco 6509 w/6716 10gig Blade cannot set MTU size
I have a 10gig EqualLogic SAN connected directly into a 6509 core with a 6716 10gig blade.
I am SUPPOSED to be able to adjust MTU size, but I am forced to select 9216 with no ability to set MTU to 9000.
I am running SUP720 with software ver 12.2.17R
Has ANYONE seen this? Is this a Cisco bug?
THANKS everyone!

Some manufacturers allow for a more genaric MTU size while others want the exact number. Basically the 9216 is the same as 9000, not a bug. 9000 is the generic term or setting for 9216

Lance, thanks for the reply.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt the actual MTU for EqualLogic 9018 with overhead? In which case there is still a mismatch.
If we leave the Cisco at 9216, we're at MAX MTU size and we have no room for anything and we still have a mismatch which could produce errors. Correct?

The MTU is going to run at the least common denominator which is going to be the device that is set at 9000. I know that some NIC's do not allow anything higher than 9000 and some others allow the 9216 or some other variation. From what I recall the EqualLogic array is set to 9000 out of the box so you should be good.
