Alerts from SAN HQ
Hi all,
Quite new to SAN administration, so still tons to learn
******************************************************************
environment: (SAN HQ v2.5.0.6470)
1 Group consisting of 8 Members (all on firmware 6.0.2)
Equallogic
1x PS5000
5x PS6000
2x PS6100
iSCSI connections throughout to vSphere4.1U2
*******************************************************************
I was wondering whether it is possible to setup alerts on individual Volumes so if a certain threshold (which I need to understant to setup), such as a specific Queue Depth or Latency value is reached then we would get an alert/email sent from HQ...
I will be browsing documentation to find out about baseline, threshold values to monitor on Equallogic.
Help and comments are much appreciated.

The list of available alerts in SANHQ do not include queue depth or latency. The alerts are related to items such as an SNMP timeout, performance problems (such as a high load), and group alarms (for example, a failed power supply).
The list of the alerts that are configurable are in the SAN Headquarters Installation and User Guide.
You can use a third party SNMP tool that has email alerting ability and import the EQL MIB’s to set something like this up. Note that EQL MIB’s typically change with each version of firmware, so ensure you download the version that matches the version installed in your group, and import them into your SNMP tool whenever you update that group Firmware.

Hi Joe,
Thanks a lot for your reply. Much appreciated.
Sorry for the noob question but: How do I get the EQL MIB's??? SOlarwinds must have their DB up-to-date, but it would not harm to get these MIBs forwarded to them.
Thanks once again for your assitance.

The MIB's are located on the Firmware Download page at support.equallogic.com (EqualLogic Support user name and password required).
Once logged in to the site, go to Download> PS Series Firmware> *[select the version currently installed on your arrays]> Click the link next to the title "Download Page"> then on the next page is a box titled downloads, you will see the MIB's there.
*Since the MIBs are FW specific, as you update your arrays to new firmware, you will also need to update your MIBs accordingly.
