Which version of Java for older FW 7 groups?
Hi
I need to support some older groups going into 2020, currently im using Java 8 Update 101, but im being forced to get this updated - probably have to buy some licenses to get recent updates.
So do i just stick to Java v8, and just get the latest updates when they are released? Will this just work?
I read that versions later than 8 don't support web start so the group manager doesn't work.
Advice please.

Hello,
Older versions of firmware are not going to support the newer Java versions past 8. The newest versions of EQL firmware will.
Starting with Java 8 build 201 and greater Oracle removed "anonymous' support from Java security config file. So older versions of EQL GUI will not support "Encrypted Communications" between Java applet and EQL array. You have to unselect that checkbox in the EQL login screen.
See this long thread on how to re-enable the setting. Again the newest versions of 9.1.x and 10.0.x support this by default.
