VSM Create datastore in newly added group

Hello

I think I must be doing something daft...

I created a new group.

I added that group to VSM.

When I go to 'datastores' and try and create a datastore, I only get my previous 3 groups, I can't choose my new group.

I have rebooted VSM appliance and waited for it to fully init before trying this operation...

Have I missed a step? It's a while since I did this....

Hello, Need a little more info please. VMware version EQL firmware version VSM version When you add in the new group, there is a Test credentials button, does that work? When you look at the list of the PS groups, does the new one show up and does it display all the expected details about that group? Capacity, volumes, etc... Regards, Don

Hi don sorry firmware versions will need to wait until I’m Back in the office Monday. Yes the test credentials button works, I can see the group in VSM. It just doesn’t appear when I get to the create datastore step where the group is selected.

Vsm is 4.6.0

EQL firmware is 8.1.6

Group shows in VSM, I can look in group manager and see that the vsm-admin account I created on it is connecting from the VSM ip address.

I can't see any volumes on that group in VSM as I haven't created any yet..

Hello, Thank you for the update. My first thoughts are upgrade to current EQL firmware 10.0.2. All EQL customers should be running that version. Then upgrade to VSM v5.0. What version of VMware are you using? Does the array capacity show properly on that new member? You did set the RAID policy correct? Regards, Don

Hello

I can't upgrade the firmwares as we still have Server 2008 so this is where we're at for compatibility.

I've sort of resolved the issue now, though. I manually created a volume, added it to the host, created the datastore, and then added it to each host. I can now create a second datastore and extend them using VSM. Strange stuff.

Hello, That is very strange. What build number of vCenter are you using? Interesting workaround you found. Thank you for sharing that with us. Regards, Don
