Virtual Volumes w/ Equallogic
Hello,
Configuration: vCenter 6.5u1 / Dell VSM (last one) / VASA Registered / Equallogic PS6210*2 (Hybrid)+PS6110 (HDD).
Network: IP subnet LAN for management / IP subnet LAN for iScsi = both are not routed.
I was decided to put my less-important VM on Virtual Volumes, since they became too many for the LUN in my mind. (around 40). Since they are secondary ones, I'm more open-minded where they live.
Considering this, I installed Dell Virtual Storage Manager from scratch, and checked it works well. I've registered the VASA module from CLI and it appears in vCenter. Cool one. I've also allowed PE in the VSM module (allow all is painless :D)
Here is the problem: There is no PE on my hosts.
So, do you have any hint for configuring those PE on each of my four hosts?
Regards,
Patrick

Hi Donald,
Yes I did. Nothing came. I have a LUN ID 257 of 4K named like the VVOL in the peripherals, but that's all....
EQL si 9.1.1

Yeah sorry for messing up both terms but they are the same.
When you create a new VVol bank with VSM, it create the SC corresponding for reserving space on the EQL.
Of course, i'll use dumb VMs before putting production one into this ;)
According with what you say, i'll annoy support for this. I thought I had forgotten a little thing and there is so bad documentation on this that finding an answer is a pain :/
Thank you for your answer and have a nice day !
Regards,
Patrick

The VVOL is created on the EQL, the device appear online but 0kb and a few minutes after, the datastore become unresponsive.

Hello Donald,
yeah I've already work with them for another problem. I unfortunatly know how they work ^^
I've checked all the prerequiste yesterday but they were all ok :) I've nicely follow this document some years ago.
While investigating by myself, i've found a vvold.log file in /var/log on my server... I didn't suspect this would exist ! And I've found my problem. I'll create a ticket according to this.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
