Using local accounts on FS7600 for SMB Mounts
Hi,
I have a Dell FS7600 that I am using for both NFS and SMB shares. the NFS part works just fine, but I cannot get the SMB mounts to work to any windows servers.
I have not yet added this NAS to my AD, I was hoping to just use local users, but it is unclear where to add them. Is this possible?
on NFS, the mount must include both the NAS container and the volume, does the windows map have to include both?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Don,
I am not seeing an option to create a user under the NAS panel. I do see an Accounts and Groups section on the Administrator tab under Group->Group Configuration ( near where the Authentication section is.
is that it? I thought that was just for Administration.

its a new system, we just installed it this year.
the version is V8.1.3
We do have a support contract, but the unit is installed in India, getting local support there has been a bit challenging,

v8.1.3 points to the FW level of the PS controllers rather than the FluidFS aka FS76xx. It its a new FS i assume it comes with FluidFS 4.x.
I update a 7610 on customer side some weeks ago and we went from 2.x ->3.x->4.x. The 5.x is for Compellent FS8610 only.
Back to your question from my brain you can add the FS to your AD from Cluster Management > Authentication > System Identity. An AD Account with the right privilegies is needed.
Depends on how your environmet looks like one or two teaks are needed on the FS commandline.
