PS6500ES what is the configuration for half filled?
We have a half filled PS6500E that we want to add the 7 SSD to turn into a hybrid array with RAID6 accelerated. Is the final configuration 24 + 7 or 17 + 7? Or is there even an option to have a half filled hybrid?
Thanks

Hello,
No. There wasn't a 6500ES Hybrid model. Hybrid models are paired with 10K or 15K drives. The only exception is the 6610ES which had 14 SSDs and 70 NL-SAS drives. '
Hybrids would always have to be fully populated. Since it's not a supported model for the 65xx series I have no idea what would happen if you tried to create a hybrid on a 1/2 populated 6500. I would not expect good results since the RAIDset layouts wouldn't be optimized anymore. You are better off finding additional EQL drives and fully populating that array. That will increase both capacity and performance.

Sorry, I just checked, it's a PS6510. There is a 6510ES according to your official docs.

Hello,
Correct but only with 41 drives and the 7 SSDs.
Also what firmware is on that array now. Older firmware didn't support the hybrid configuration.

6.0.10. Hopefully this is sufficient as no longer has access to firmware updates?

Hello,
I am not sure if that was available for 6.x.
Something quick to try:
GrpName>member select MEMBERNAME raid-policy ?
- Configures RAID set type to one of the following: raid5,
raid6, raid10, raid50, raid6-nospares, raid10-nospares, raid6-accelerated.
Where MEMBERNAME is the name of the 6510 you want to use.
You can't convert to RAID6-accelerated. It has to be created from scratch.
And you will have to add more drives to fill the array.
Regards,
Don
