PS6210E Interface eth1 has detected an invalid sw config

Hello Friends! 😊

After I implemented a PS6210E with an M1000e Chassis through two Foce10 MXL Switches (stacked through the QSFP + interfaces), I was be able to map the LUNs to the Hosts (they are all of the PEM630 model), but I could not configure a partner for replication a second Storage PS6210E configured in another group but on the same subnet).

Both PS6210E display the alert message:
“Event ID 9.3.0 – Message: Interface eth1 has detected an invalid switch configuration. All iSCSI initiators and targets connected to this switch will have no flow control for iSCSI until this is corrected. Operation with no flow control may cause performance degradation and service interruptions. Please refer to the following document for corrective action information: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/storage/w/wiki/4355.configuring-dcb-with- equallogic-sans.aspx”

However, that link is not working.

After some tests, I realized that if I disable the DCB in the MXL, the alert message disappears, but the Hosts losed communication with the Storages.

Tag the SAN VLAN on all Storage interfaces, the Hosts interfaces, and the “DCB VLAN ID” field in the Storages Group Manager.

Can anyone help me to fix the issue?

Thanks All!

Hello

1.  Correct, when you disable DCB, you will lose communications because the EQL array will no longer honor the vlan tag that was programmed in the EQL GUI.  This is not a bug and is working as designed.  If you set a vlan tag in the EQL GUI, it will only use that tag if DCB is enabled and configured  on the switch.  Once DCB is disabled on the switch, the switch itself still uses tags, but the EQL controllers will not.

2.  Flow control messages.  The EQL controllers always want to see some type of flow control (either 802.3x or PFC).   If you have DCB enabled on the switch, did you setup up the switch for Priority Flow Control (PFC)?

When you disabled DCB, I suspect that the switch already has 802.3x flow control already setup in the running-config. I know you said that the messages went away after you disabled DCB, but if you reboot the EQL controllers, check if the warning messages come back.

3.  As far as the web links, I will report this so they can correct it.  There has been a rework of the website and documents  were moved.  You can view our switch config guides located at  https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln310825/switch-configuration-guides-for-sc-series-or-ps-series-sans?lang=en

Look for the MXL SCG - it will have DCB setup steps.

Also, here is a corrected link to the link you wanted to originally get to:

Hello,

Re: VLAN tagging.  When DCB is not configured,  VLAN tagging with EQL arrays isn't supported.  All EQL ports both primary and secondary controller ports must be untagged on the switches.

 Regards,

Don
