PS6100E Lost Member

Hi All,

I have a member as part of a group, the member is not showing at all within its group in the GUI. Buty its storage space is in use, and spanned over an another member of the same type and firmware.

Show member reports the member status as unknown

When I use the various "member select" controllers, drives, and ethernet ports all show as good and we can ping the ports concerned.

Both units have been cold booted but the issue hasn't changed.

Has anyone got any ideas on next steps?

Kind Regards

RichardTea,

Would you be able to confirm a few things for me?

Did it used to work, if so when did it stop?
Has anything changed since it stopped work?

Can get to the gui on only that one member by going directly to its ip

Are you using dedicated mgmt, and if so is it configured correctly?
Lastly, have you pulled diags yet?

Let me know.

Also regarding using Dedicated Management (aka out-of-band management)  do both CMs have their management ports connected?   Often after a failover you discover that only the primary had the ETH4 port connected.

Verify that each array can reach every other port on the other array

SSH to each member individually NOT to the Group IP or Group Mgmt IP for dedicated management feature.

GrpName> ping "-I source IP  Dest IP"    (that's a captial I" for Interface)

If you don't know all the IP addresses you can use:

  GrpName>member select MEMBERNAME show eths

You have to ping FROM every IP address TO every PHYSICAL IP address  Not to the Group IP or Mgmt IP if using dedicated management feature.

What is the firmware level on these arrays?

If you aren't sure you can run:   GrpName>show member

 Regards,

Don
