PS6100 raid 10 nospares to RAID 6 - still no hot spares

I have a PS6100 that was configured RAID10-nospares. I was able to run "raid-policy raid6" and it converted to RAID6, but there are still 0 hot spares.

There is no data on the array so I can just reset it, but wondering why it didn't create hot spares during the conversion?

running v9.0.5

Also - Is there a way to reset without a serial connection?
