PS6100 iSCSI network with Dell switch S4048 not working
Hi all
I am currently replacing some of cisco gigabit switch with Dell s4048 switches. I have two PS6100 series equallogic with gigabit interface as I am replacing cisco switch even current equallogic have gigabit port I am planning to connect with Dell 10GB switch but when I connect equallogic to dell switch it did not work but the same network cable, if I move to cisco switch than it works fine. below are the detail of dell switches. My question here is do I need to do any special configuration to make dell equallogic and dell S4048 work together
> there are two switches and configured with stack. out of 8 equallogic ports from each controller two ports goes to one switches.
> Untaged VLAN is configured to each port
>Flowcontrol rx on tx off
>Spanning-tree rstp edge-port
>MTU: 9216
Looking forward to help.
Kind regards
Binaya

Hi Don
Thanks for your reply I tested with single switch connection but the result was same and I also went through the configuration guide and I have exactly same configuration except MTU size I have is 9216.
I previously also mentioned that Equallogic have 1GB port the next thing I will try is change switch port speed from auto speed to 1GB speed and cable replace from cat 6 to cat 7 that is the only thing left to do.
Kind regards
Binaya

Just to add to this. We confirmed this to be an issue (firmware 9.10) with several linux 1Gb devices plugged into this switch. Setting the speed to 1000 appears to fix the issue. We are looking now to see if this also effects Windows devices as well. Symptoms are some ports never come up (though they have link) or they lose a large percentage of packets if they do come online.
We are also looking to see if 9.11.2 fixes the issue but have not had a chance to test it.

Hi Binaya
I´m having the same issue here, could you solve this problem?
I have 3 Dell specialists working on it for 1 week and none solution.

1. Can you explain what part is not working?
2. Do you get a link light on the switch port of the PS6100 port?
3. On the switch, do a "show interface status" to verify link port status
4. Do a "show interfaces" and check port status
5. As a test, force the switch port to 1Gbps via the CLI
6. On your configuration above, have you ran a "no shut" and is the port in L2 mode (i.e. switchport)
7. Is there link connectivity issues between the initiator-switch or the switch-PS6100?

1. The part between the switch S4048T-ON and storage PS6210.
2. We have 2 cables connected in the storage active controller but just one has its light on in the switch.

Hello Delbonf
The issue (PS6210/S4048) you have is separate and not related to the original posting (PS6110 / S4048) . You may want to delete your entry so as to keep the current thread on topic.
If you open a new thread, I would be happy to respond to that new thread. This way we can keep the issues separate and not overlook this original thread.
