Hello,
When you download the firmware there's a PDF on updating the firmware. In the 10.x upgrade doc on pages 12 and 13 has the chart.
6.0.9->7.1.14->8.1.13->9.1.6->10.0.1
You will have to restart after each upgrade step.
The 7.1.14 firmware is located under "Legacy Firmware"

Hello,
Yes, 9.1.x can go to 10.0.x. You don't have to be at a specific version of 9.1.x.

You can also use the Storage Updatemanger tool which will guide you through the process. It'll take care of the right FW version.
Dont forget to applay the Drive FW kit as well at the end of your journey.

Hello,
FYI: If you do use the Dell Update Manager it will let you know if any disk firmware upgrades are needed.
Regards,
Don
ps. I have always done my firmware upgrades via the serial port. It's NOT required but it's a good idea to always make sure that you can connect to it serially in the event there's a problem. A failed upgrade could lead one controller unable to boot up. Most common cause is a failed CF disk. Then a serial connection would be needed to triage that. The other reason I prefer serial for upgrades is that I can monitor both controllers through the entire process. It's much more verbose via the console vs. DSUM or via WebGUI. In my lab we use serial port muxes to always have serial connections whenever needed.
