PS6000: One or more drives in array are not approved

I'm getting a warning after replaced a drive for my PS6000 "One or more drives in array are not approved"

Hi Eric,

The drive may not have EquallLogic firmware on the drive. The drives that are used have specific firmware on them. Even drives that are the same model that have different firmware won’t work. Did you get the replacement drive from us or a third party? Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Hello Eric, 

 Also what firmware is on that array?   The common answer is as Eric indicated, the drives are manufactured in a way that allows them to be detected as approved drives.  The same model and firmware drive, either OEM, or from another Dell product will not work in a Dell PS Series SAN. 

 If you did get a real "EQL" drive it might be a 4K sector drive.  Which requires EQL firmware 9.1.x or greater to be supported.
