PS4xxx group member limitation?

I know a long time ago that there was a software-defined limit on the amount of members in groups.

Does the newer firmware? 8.x 9.x surpass that limit of 2 ps4xxx members or is that still around?

I would REALLY appreciate raising that limit due to a situation I am in right now. ( P.S. yes I am fully aware eql is EOL and should be getting off of it but not for a year + )
