Password reset

Question

Dear Sr.

I have a Dell Equallogic ps 6210 SAN storage and the priviuse system administrator left the company without giving any administrator password, is there a way that we can reset the admin password without affecting the data & the current configuration so that I can access the SAN through browser.

Hello,

Sounds like you don't have a contact on that array anymore. You can try to open a T&M case and they can provide you with the response code you will need to reset the password.

You will need to be connected to the serial port of the active controller. You enter "passwordrecovery" for the login. It will provide the firmware version and a challenge code. Support will give you the reply. This will allow you to login and change the password.

Hi Don,

I am looking at resetting the BMC password. The installation of FuildFS will reset the password to default anyways to connect to the equallogic. However I need to reset the BMC. In BIOS has no area to change the password. And there is no firmware updates available at this time either.

I read your thread on the other posting and I didn't think you meant the EQL.

Sorry. I don't have info on resetting that. I will reply to Josh's note, and maybe he as info on the BMC reset process.

Hi Don,

I think so as well. The FS7600 is all new to me and it is a learning experience. Can't complain as learning this system is fun as well :).

Surprising to hear that when I created the ISO to USB, and when I boot it up on the FS7600, it couldn't find the key file. However when I build a VM and attached the ISO, it works perfectly (well installing that is). So there are steps I still need to figure out.

Step 1 is to build a centos live usb, and have IPMITOOLS installed on it. I can use this to reset the BMC. As I have been told.

Step 2, then attach the ISO directly through the BMC for installation.

Hoping it works. If you have the commands for the IMPItools, let me know.

Hi Everyone,

So I wasn't able to get Linux on a USB with IPMITools. However I was able to install Windows 10 Pro on it.

When I do try different IPMI Tools, all seems to be unsupported or fails.

Is there any other tools to get the IPMI/BMC Reset on this.
