MPIO issue with Microsoft Hyper -V 2012 R2

I have DELL R720 poweredge server having Microsoft hyper V 2012 R2 installed. I am getting event log "Path ffffe80052200760 was removed from \Device\MPIODisk7 due to a PnP event. The dump data contains the current number of paths." For multi path IBM SDDDM has been installed. Could you please tell me What is wrong ?? Is MPIO version not compatible with IBM SAN?

Hello,

If you have installed software from IBM you should contact them for assistance.

The native MPIO from MS is good and works with just about any SAN.

Some SANs like the Equallogic PS Series, occasionally will move connections from one physical port to another on the array controller.  When that happens you see a similar message as one connection is terminated, the device associated with that path is removed by the OS.   Then the new connection is made a new MPIO device "disk" is created to take its place.   So I would look for a path/device creation message after this removal message.

I'm not sure how IBM SANs show connections to their storage but on the Equallogic they are shown in the volume properties.  So you can verify that each server has the proper amount of connections to the storage.

Typically just iSCSI connections per volume, per host.

 Regards,

Don
