Migration from software iscsi initiator to hardware initiator on 2012 Hyper-v cluster.

Hi,

We have M1000e CMC, 10 x M620 blades with Broadcom 57810 10gig cards dedicated for iSCSI to Equallogic PS 6110 SAN.

Currently software iscsi initiator being used on Windows 2012 hyper-v cluster to connect PS6110 SAN.

150 VMs are in production on 15 CSVs.

We want to change initiator from software to hardware on all our existing blades without effecting production CSV.

Is it possible on 2012 hyper-v cluster to have 5 blades with software initiator and remaining 5 blades with hardware initiator presenting same CSV to the cluster?

If software and hardware initiator coexistence possible across hosts then I can apply this change one by one gradually on our 10 blades without having cluster down time.

Hello,

Thanks for the positive reply,

This is a million dollar answer for me!

Our EQL PS6110  has 7.0.4 FW (5 boxes)

HITKIT 4.7 being used on Windows 2012

Broadcom FW version 7.8.53

Broadcom driver Version 18.2.2, 17.8c.4.3

We are planning to go ahead, Just would like to know, is it a tested scenario by Dell?

I will update EQL and network FW and drivers as well before start migration.

I meant to say, that steps you define for the iscsi initiator migration on running hyper-v cluster nodes, is this tested from Dell side?
