M4110 Error
I have a M4110 with an error but im not sure what the fault actually is.
"Link to the Enclosure management Processor failed"
Everything seems fine other than the error message.

Hi,
Was it working previously? Are there any errors on the LEDs? Page 43 https://dell.to/33UgIIB

Hi
No everything is green.
I have changed the m4110 chassis and seems to have sorted the issue.

Hi, we are having the same issue; everything is green but the "Link to the enclosure management processor failed" error. Did you try reseating the chassis first, or did you just replace the chassis altogether? Also, after replacing the chassis, did you have to reconfigure the IP address and iscsi info, or did it picked up automatically? Thank you in advance, as it will help us prepare better.

Hi Sharad,
Reseating first would be a good idea. If you do have to replace it should retain the settings.

Thanks, Josh. What does the management processor really do in general? Is it simply responsible for letting you manage Equallogic from m1000e? Or is it also responsible for connectivity between the blade servers and the EqualLogic? Is it possible that after I remove the Equallogic array from the M1000e and then put it back (i.e. reseat), M1000e won't recognize the Equallogic Array or RAID at all? Thanks for all your help.

i changed the chassis in the end seemed to fix it. reseating is fine.
they seem a bit flakey though, what the m1000e says and what the controllers say dont always match, i dont know if the chassis is slower at updating its status.
it wouldnt suprise me if a component wthin the m4110 has an issue. they can run pretty hot in such a compact space

Hello,
Glad you have is resolved. Heat typically isn't a problem with PSM4110M, as long as the chassis cooling is working and the environment is cooled. The drives are 2.5 inch and even the 10K drives don't get very hot.
I would make sure the M1000E CMC code is up to date. There were some HW updates to the M1000E as well over the years.
Regards,
Don
