EqualLogic SMP Storage Provider support for SCVMM 2016

Hi there

I'd like to get a little more information surrounding the SMP provider that comes shipped with HIT Kit 5.0, specifically, whether this will work with SCVMM 2016.

We can see in the documentation that HIT Kit 5.0 provides support for Windows Server 2016, however we cannot see any mention of whether the provider supports VMM 2016 (only mentions of VMM 2012 SP1 / 2012 R2).

Could we get Dells stance on this and whether support for SCVMM 2016 is on the roadmap?

Kind Regards

Matthew

Hi

Any chance of somebody from Dell chiming in on this if possible?

Kind Regards

Thanks Don- I hope it is supported, we spend a lot of money on support each year, and its not that old. SCVMM has been out since Fall 2016 and was in preview starting in Fall 2014

Agreed

We are in the same situation, where we have made a large investment in EqualLogic storage / extended warranties and we have hit a brick wall here. The standard line from support seems to be "This likely won't ever be supported. The solution is to migrate to Compellent", however this really isn't good enough.

It's not as if Dell haven't had time to prepare for VMM 2016. it has been out in the field now for a good few years now in one form or another.

It seems as though the lack of support for VMM 2016 is most likely deliberate to be quite honest in an attempt to start weaning clients off the EQL ecosystem.

Kind Regards

Matthew

We are looking to add a cluster connected to an EqualLogic PS-M4110 running 9.1 into SCVMM 2016. All hosts are 2016 using the 5.0 hit kit. Any update on if this is supported yet?

Thanks,

Kyle

Hi All

HIT 5.1 looks as though it has full support for SCVMM 2016.

I am just about to review and install this, so for those folks who are still seeing this issue, I will report back with my findings.

Kind Regards
