EqualLogic ps6210xs lost management access
Hi,
I was told that I was running a non supported disk configuration as I had 16x 400GB SSD.
I have now removed the extra SSD and added the new spinning disk. in total, I now have 7x 400GB SSD and 17x 600GB spinning disk.
Since I replaced the disks, I am no longer able to access the out of band management. (172.20.30.xxx)
I am still able to ping the 2 iscsi IP 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101.
When I ping the management interface 172.20.30.xxx i have:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss)
I tried to connect to the serial to reset the unit but I don't seem to connect. All I see is a black screen. I am not sure I have the correct cables.
I did backup my data and all my VMs are currently running from the server local storage.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get access to the EqualLogic group manager back?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Hello,
So you can connect to the physical management port IP address not the Group Management alias? Is that correct? That can be state MAC addresses on the switch.
Glad you have it working.

Hello,
Since you've been changing out disks, that's not supported either. Whether you want to run a fully SSD or Hybrid SSD/SAS isn't critical. I am guessing that this array is not under contract?
Did you remove drives from the running configuration and just replace them? If so, you have faulted the RAIDsets and that's not something you can recover from. Too many drives would be missing. If you still have all the SSD drives I would suggest powering off the array. Put all those drives back in and see if it recovers. Then you can decide if you want to keep the all SSD or go for the Hybrid.
re: Serial. It's a standard NULL modem configuration. 9600, N, 8, 1 NO flowcontrol. Don't use Cisco switch cables as they are wired non standard.
If you get the serial access working you can verify the state of the array then and reset it if you want to start over.
Regards,
Don

Hi,
Run ip scanner on the network and found the storage IP address.
Thank you for your suggestions

Hello,
The only time it becomes a problem to not access the Dedicated Management Group IP address is when you have multiple members in the same group. Since the Management lead for the group could be on a different member.
