Equallogic PS4110 eth0 failed to connect
Hello!
I've been running into an issue with an Equallogic PS4110 SAN, and can't seem to setup the machine. I have tried connecting it to a Cisco 3560G Switch and when I attempt to complete the initial setup for the Equallogic, I encounter an issue as follows...
"Interface eth0 failed to connect to the network. Please establish a network link to eth0"
I set a basic member name, left the Network interface alone, left the netmask at default, and input the same IP I've already set up on the switch.
I've established a basic IP for the switch, and have attempted to manually set the default gateway to the switch's IP. But I've still had no luck. I confirmed that the ports were indeed active on the switch via it's cmd tools, all of which are up. I've connected a server to the switch and checked via cmd ipconfig/all that the ports were reading properly.
The Equallogic has two "Control Module 17" units, and I've tried both sets of transceiver ports that are available on each Module, along with the Ethernet ports, connected to the switch and have still received the same error.
I've even tried setting up the Equallogic by connecting it to a laptop over Ethernet, in hopes to set it up then adjust settings later. But I've had no luck. I've tried three different Ethernet cables, two different fiber cables, and many variations of used ports between the machines.
I'll do my best to answer any questions, help is greatly appreciated! I hope I'm somehow overlooking some basic issue, this has been frustrating.

Hello,
The PS4110, PS6110 are 10GbE ONLY controllers. The RJ45 does not negotiate down to GbE. The SFP+ are also always 10GbE. The 3560G is a GbE switch. Until you get a link on the ETH0 port you cannot configure a PS Series iSCSI SAN.
You will need a 10GbE switch. If the Cisco has 10GbE Uplink ports do NOT use them. They weren't designed for iSCSI traffic and going from 10GbE to GbE servers will overrun the switch and servers.
The PS4100 and PS6100 are GbE iSCSI SANs.

Don
