Hello,

You cannot format that vss-control volume.  It's not an actual formattable volume.  It's used by the Microsoft Volume Shadow Service to create application consistent snapshots and replication.

In the Group Manager, Group Configuration there is a VSS/VDS tab.  There you can set an ACL so only servers that will be using that feature with out Host Integration Toolkit software will see it.

So you can just ignore that volume in Disk Manager.

Hello,

Absolutely.  You have to create a volume for that server to attach to first. You create the volume, set the access control for that volume to only be accessible by that server.   Then you can format it like any standard disk.  When you format it, change the cluster size for NTFS to 64K.  This will make writes more efficient.

There are videos on YouTube that cover basic things like that.

Hello,

What version of Java are you using and what error are you seeing?

A common problem is more recent versions of Java changed default behavior on self-signed applets.

If you UNCHECK the "Encrypt Communications" box on the login screen then that is your issue.

 https://www.dell.com/community/EqualLogic/PS6000-Encrypted-Connection-Could-Not-Be-Established/m-p/7189390#M13385

That forum thread has information on changing the default security settings.
