EqualLogic PS4000XV out of warranty - We need to change hard disk

HDD crashed: 15000 rpm, 600 GB, 3.5", SAS 6 Gb/s, buffer 16 MB.

New HDD: 15000 rpm, 600 GB, 3,5", SAS 12Gb/s, buffer 256 MB.

Are there any compatibility issues? And if the new HDD had a buffer of 128 MB?

Otherwise could we use a 2,5" hard drive (15000 rpm, 600 GB, SAS 12 Gb/s, buffer 256 MB/128 MB) with a conveyor?

Thank you very much for your help. I have already been able to find the part number of this HDD.

We have another EQL PS4000XV (2529WN1) with a broken HDD. In this case, the features are: 7200 rpm, SATA 6 Gb/s, 2 TB, 3.5". Could you find out the corresponding part numbers?

Thanks in advance.

Why not ask Dell for a "out of warranty replacement"?  One of the 600GB 10K HDDs in a PS4000X died yesterday and Dell want 124,- EUR for the replacement. Sounds fair and we paid for it.

Joerg
