drive firmware update failing
I have a drive that I got with KD03 on it and I need to update it to KD0A the problem is the firmware tool I had to do this I ran when I was on 5.2.6 and now I'm on 5.2.10.
The message I get back for using this tool is:
ERROR: The minimum supported version for this procedure is V5.2.5. You are running V5.2.10
If I try to use the listed on the site v9 method it runs but gives me:
ERROR: The minimum supported version for this procedure is V6.0.0. You are running V5.2.10
I feel like I'm using a controller firmware value that is not allowing me to perform hard drive upgrades. I really do not want to upgrade to 6.0 is this my only option?

Can I upgrade from 5.2.10 straight to 6.0.11 without any in-between upgrades?

Do you recommend using the storage update manager utility or using the software on the SAN to perform the update? I have always used the software on SAN to update the controllers before.

Don my plan is to update to 5.2.11 and test the firmware update utility. If it works I will be holding off on the 6.x update until it can be planned better. Is there a document that list any concerns I should be aware of when moving from 5x to 6x?

Just as a fyi I updated to 5.2.11 and the tool was still unsuccessful so I performed the update to 6.0.11 and successfully ran the new firmware update tool on the drive.

I know this is an old thread but I'm desperate for help. I have a drive that failed and my replacement HD (ST3500514NS) has an older firmware.
