Downgrade from 7.0.1 to 4.3.6 firmware for a PS6010
So I know this is probably HIGHLY not recommended, but we're trying to group this PS6010 with a few older units like a PS4000, which are all running along happily at 4.3.6. I am under the impression that you can't add an Equallogic to an existing group unless it matches the firmware revision of the rest of the group members.
Is this at all possible via any means? (I already know it's not possible via the GUI) Am I certain to brick my system if I attempt to force-load the associated images onto the microSD cards for example? Ok, I already tried this but received a message like "the NVSRAM present in the system is newer than the version found on the controller" Version 16 was on the system (somewhere) and version 11 was on the controller that I re-imaged. My next thought was to unseat the coin and NVSRAM batteries in the controllers hopes that they will forget that they ever had a newer version, but it seems like not the best idea.
Anyone have experience with this kind of thing? It's obviously not something that most people will have tried, but hey, there are a lot of smart people on this forum.
Thanks!

Why not upgrade to 7.1.7 for all members? Our PS4000 runs fine with it as same as 6010, 6110, 6210.

If it were up to me that's exactly how I would proceed as well.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was afraid of. AFAIK the switch is just 1Gb, so i'm not sure why it was decided to get a 6010 in the first place. (Honestly until I started playing with it I didn't know it had 10Gb ports at all!) I think the original goal with this was to expand the existing group's capacity, but it would be pretty great to do an across-the-board upgrade to all 10Gb infrastructure. We will have to look into that.
Meanwhile, a downgrade for the 6010 to 4.3.6 is definitely out of the question? I was just reading a post saying that 10Gb support didn't come around until 5.2.8 or something, so I assume it would just not work at all below that threshold.

Thanks Don, that is great info. I think we'll look into an upgrade for the existing systems and/or a future migration to 10Gb-everything.
Thanks again!

Ahhh yes i've run across that PS4XXX limitation before.
I will pitch the idea of exchanging the 6010 for a 6000, that sounds like it would make a lot of sense in this case.
Thanks again, have a great weekend!
