Dell EqualLogic Hidden Snapshots
Hello,
Recently we had an incident with our EqualLogic group and since that point in time, I’ve noticed that some of the volumes in use show accurate (for the GUI) number of snapshots, however there is also an unaccounted for compressed snapshot size.
For example, after deleting all snapshots for a volume and then setting the reserve to zero my GUI will show zero snapshots and zero reserve, yet the Snapshot compression will show 60.79GB (“CompressedSnapDataSize” = 60.79GB in the CLI). If I set my snapshot reserve back on, I immediately consume 60.79GB of my reserve even though I still have zero snapshots.
Can I delete these hidden/compressed snapshots via the CLI?
Thanks
- Chandler

Hello,
No. Removing those files requires internal commands that must be used carefully.
Sounds like you are running and older EQL firmware and older HIT/ME software?
Regards,

Sorry. I said "files" I meant those hidden snapshots.
There are two major databases on each array. The entries for one are still in one of those databases. So you can't delete them with a standard CLI command.
