Can't get the VSM to take Storage IP address
I'm trying to set up the VSM for the first time in our vsphere environment. We have an Equalogic 6510 we are testing this out on. I have the VM appliance installed, have it's management IP configured. I added another NIC for the storage network. However when I go to enable the storage network I constantly get a "Additional route: Incorrect format. Expected CIDR notation Ex: 192.168.1.1/24" error. First I was trying it on our 172 storage network, manually typing in the IP address. Then I tried adding it to our VM Network and having it get a DHCP address and got the same thing. Manual, DHCP, doesn't matter. Tosses that error every time. I should also add that the group IP is on the 172 network, but the management is on the 192.

Thank you for all your help. After poking around a bit more on the SAN I figured out what the problem was. Our storage admin had configured a management interface, but not the actual Management Network. So he gave me just the IP for the management NIC. Thats why it wans't connecting. As soon as I configured that and added that IP it worked. Again, thank you for your help.

Yes the management network for the VSM is set, I can ping it and get to the webpage. It's on the 192 network. The array Group IP is on the 172 network and the manager IP is on the 192 network.
So do I not need the Storage Network option enabled on the VSM if both management address are on the same network?

Yes. My vCenter server is on the 192 network, and I can get to the PS Group Manager by using the 192 address it's been assigned. I went into the EQL and verified that the 192 address is set for management traffic only.
However when I try to add the group I get this error:
"Unable to add PS Series Group. 192.168.1.240 is not a valid group IP or hostname." Which is why I was thinking I needed to enable the storage setting in the VSM. .
