attempting to connect my older Equallogic Array to Dell storage Manager

Hello

I am attempting to connect my older EqualLogic Array to Dell storage Manager, and I get the following error "Error Running method"

Unhandled Exception Running API Command [ObjectType: EmUser] [Method: AddPsGroup] [Message: javax.ejb.EJBException: com.compellent.emdatacollector.util.DataCollectorApiException: An unknown error occurred while performing the operation]

I tried adding the PS series array to Storage Manager using the Management IP and the ISCSI ip and I get the above error.

PS is running the latest - last firmware

SC is scv3020 running latest storage manager and SCO

any help is appreciated

Petros

Hi,

could you please provide more details about your used Hardware?

With more details, I could inform our storage specialists.

Thank you Martin, I will review it again.

I know I met the PS Series Firmware

I will confirm the following:

● Limit access to the volume by Storage Center IP or iSCSI initiator name.
● Enable Allow simultaneous connections from initiators with different IQNs in
the volume advanced settings.
● Stop all IO from the server to the volume.

Ygpyg,

Would you confirm the process you are using to try to add it, what steps you are taking? Are the steps performed the same as seen on page 139-140 here, and do you meet the requirements shown there as well?

Let us know.

I confirmed the above are done except "Stop all IO from the server to the volume." but I do not have any thing mapped to that volume so fair to assume all IO is stopped.

one thing Martin, is it required to do the above steps before I can add the PS series array to Storage manager?

After I verified, I attempted the wizard and it still failed with the initial error.

any advice will be great, thank you for your help again.

Hi,

it could be because your storage is full. This vid might help. You need to plug to the primary controller.

  • Default serial settings are:
    1. 9600 baud
    2. 1 stop bit
    3. No parity
    4. 8 data bits
    5. No flow control

Hi, provided your CLI creation could be successful

  1. Try another JAVA version.
  2. Update Equallogic firmware through update CLI

I Updated Java, even though I can manage my PS series using the same java. I tried any way and still getting the same error message.

Hi,

i spoke with my colleague from storage:

you could restart DSM, but asides from that, this needs to be troubleshot can DSM reach EQL's group management IP?

Best you collect logs from the EQL and open a case with support.

It sounds like the issue could be on the DSM side.

If you got your solution please provide it here in this thread so that other customers could find it.

I can reach EQL Management Ip from the DSM network. I will restart DSM and attempt the connection again.

for XDR to work, am I required to have the replication license on my SC? I have it on one of my SC but wanted to be sure.

Thank you
