After power failure with one controller my Dell PS6100XS storage device not booting.

After power failure with one controller my Dell PS6100XS storage device not booting. When we are trying to check the status of array then it is showing below message.

You are running a support command, which is normally restricted to PS Series Technical Support personnel. Do not use a support command without instruction.

Any help on this truly appreciated.

Tried to restart it from the CLI but it is showing below error.

CLI> restart
netmgtd:1741819983.30:main.c:1054:AUDIT:25.7.8:User action: restart

Restarting the system will result in the active and secondary control
modules switching roles. Therefore, the current active control module
will become the secondary after the system restart.

After you enter the restart command, the active control module will fail over.
To continue to use the serial connection when the array restarts, connect the
serial cable to the new active control module.

Do you really want to restart the system? (yes/no) [no]:yes

The error which i see after booting the device is as below.

LV log has been damaged. Contact the support provider for your PS Series array.

The storage array is still initializing.  Limited commands will be available until the initialization is complete. Please try again later.

Hi,

It seems that the LV log pages have been corrupted and needed to be cleared, but this can cause data lost.  You can refer to a previous post of the same issue here: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/equallogic/array-still-initializing-after-energy-lost-ps4210/647f9f83f4ccf8a8de457f5a?page=1 where a command clearlostdata is being executed. You can read a few of the comments before issuing the command. There are a few troubleshooting steps mentioned in the previous post.

If this does not help, I would strongly suggest contacting the support to check on the storage, there are few sets of command that needed to be executed, but I do not have those command nor can be issued by users. A second level engineer needs to remote access to it.

Hi Joey,

Thank you for the update, i looked at this article and based on recommendation ran some command which help us to view and analyze the array condition. Even tried clearlostdata command but it is ending on below output.

CLI> clearlostdata
% Error - could not retrieve email notification configuration

The clearlostdata command will gather information about the
state of this array for support and troubleshooting purposes.
No user information will be included in this data.

E-mail notification is not available, so you must retrieve the results
from the array using FTP or SCP, or by using the "text capture" feature
of your terminal emulator or Telnet program.

You will be given information to help you do this at the end of this procedure.

Finally, please remember to include your Dell Technical Support case or incident number
in the subject line of any e-mail that you send to Dell Support.  This will help
ensure that the message is routed correctly.

Invalid request, driver is not in admin state, no lost data to clear

Hi,

If you have tried those mentioned in the previous post and still having an issue, I do recommend contacting the support line to verify the issue with a remote session.

@Vipin Pandey

The LV Log is the array's database and if damaged the array will never boot.  It stores everything about the array.   I suspect you don't have a support contract.   Help from engineering is required to repair that database.  Depending on what region you are in you might be able to purchase a one time support case.   If not, and the data is backed up you will have to reset that array and set it up again, then restore your data.

 Regards,

Don
