6100 hard drive upgrade
Hello -
Out of warranty PS6100 w/ 22 1 TB drives, plus 2 1 TB hot spares - RAID 10. We are considering upgrading to 2TB or 4 TB drives. Is there a way to upgrade these drives easily without losing any data, etc?
If we do bump up the drives we'll be purchasing an additional 2 years of support. We're weighing upgrade and replacement options right now.
Thanks!

Thanks Don - I appreciate the info.
If we went this route, we were planning on replacing with Dell-branded drives. We are familiar with the requirements there.
Is there any kind of path to make that work or is it impossible to upgrade the drive size and also get the unit back under maintenance?

Don -
This is my first run-in with Dell SAN gear. My understanding from your comments is that there doesn't seem to be a method to upgrade any of the hardware with Dell parts and also get it under warranty.
While we sure don't like the answer we can deal with the facts. Unfortunately it sounds we may be headed for a forklift replacement.
Otherwise - with the RAID 10 setup we have, and if we'd choose to live w/out support, is there any information on upgrading the hard drives on our own or could you suggest any helpful resources?

Thanks Don. I did some digging on the RAID conversion and that's probably not a route we want to go down, though I do appreciate the idea to free up some extra space. It would work but not make enough impact on our current situation. It would help buy us a some time if we get into a massive crunch.
I'm afraid we're in the upgrade or replace boat. Just to clarify - is there any way at all to upgrade our SAN drives and also have it covered by Dell? Could we renew support now and make that happen? I'm just trying to exhaust our options and ensure I have accurate info.
Thanks!
