The Next-generation EMC Product Procedure Generator SolVe Desktop
The Next-generation EMC Product Procedure Generator: SolVe Desktop
If you are still using the old EMC product procedure generator, you may get this error message:
This is because the individual EMC product Procedure Generators have been replaced by the SolVe Desktop tool. SolVe (Solutions for Validating Your Engagement) Desktop, which provides users with one download tool to easily access all Generators in one central location, is now available. There are many added benefits to this new tool, such as rules, alerts, warnings, and relevant Knowledgebase Articles for your activity.
Detailed Information
Benefits of SolVe Desktop
The SolVe Desktop provides some valuable benefits to the user. For example:
· Only relevant information is presented to the end user;
· Full offline capability is an immediate benefit for the field;
· Out-of-date content is avoided;
· End users have access to up-to-date Knowledgebase content, incorporated into the output procedure, at the highest level they’re entitled to;
· All relevant information, such as FCOs and Knowledgebase articles, are made available to the user at the time of procedure generation.
Software Download
You can download the software from either:
· EMC Online Support (support.emc.com) - EMC internal and customers
· EMC Service Partner Web - EMC Service Partners
Authorization
Users will be authenticated within the tool. SolVe desktop will authenticate the user and define if you are a Partner, Customer, or EMC Employee. If a user has not updated the SolVe Desktop after a period of time, the user must ReAuthorize/Check for updates. A message on the top of the Window indicates that the “Local KeyChain is no longer current. Must Reauthenticate”.
1. The authentication process requires Internet connection:
2. Click on “Authorize and download list of available products”, then the tool will download the authentication file “SolVeDesktop.kcf”:
Download Content
Upon authentication, a user is presented with all possible Generators available based on the users authorization level. The icon with the Green DownArrow indicates user must click on the product in order to download the tool.
Begin the Procedure Process
After the product content download has completed the Desktop displays the graphic or icon of each of the products the user has requested.Oncethe content has been loaded to the Desktop, the user next selects the appropriate product icon and then clicks the Begin button to start the procedure process.
Other Tools
SolVe Desktop includes some other tools such as AAF (Activity Assurance Form), FCO/TSE Search Tool (Field Change Order), RCM Scheduler. You can access these tools via Tools menu:
Note: only EMC employees can access these tools.
Note: For any issues, concerns, or feedback, please contact us at SolVeFeedback@emc.com.

I only see about six items, not as many as the screen says - and my account is EMC partner/customer.

Hi, you can try “Reauthorize and get new products”. If there are still six products after the reauthorization, you can send mail to SolVeFeedback@emc.com for further assistance. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I tried that still six - Avamar, Connectrix, Invista, Networker,
VMAX/DMX and VPLEX , so I sent a mail to the mail address you mentioned,
and got this:
Hi Godfrey
We have checked your access, and unfortunately you will not have access to
the VNX Or Isilon.. Those Generators are only available to our Service
Partners at this time.
Thank you
Kirsty Allen
We/CSC are EMC partner, but still not given - not sure why a generator is
so restricted as it's just a document lib.
Anyway, thanks for your help.
Regards,
Godfrey
