Why do we need device groups?

it simplifies SRDF operations as you can issue commands against the entire group instead of individual devices.

Do we need to create device groups or can we get by with creating the txt file and using command symrdf establish ... -file xyz.txt?

Hi you can use the below command to crate a devicegroup from the pair file.
symrdf createpair -f
March 15th, 2014 16:00
you can use a "pair" file to create and manage SRDF relationship
