So, what are the chances...
I guess a new platform is as good a place as any to raise an ooooooooold discussion again and see if something can be done about it.
Is there a possibility of getting the ECN Support folks to update the spell checker with a variety of common EMC terms, product names, and acronyms?
I'm thinking things like:
- Symmetrix
- CLARiiON
- CLI
- ControlCenter
- StorageScope
etc. and how about:
- ECN
- EMC
I know there are lots more, but these are constantly being picked up and it's always been kind of annoying. Perhaps someone could take some time to compile a list of common "EMC words" that should be added in one big run. It would certainly make it easier to pick out actual mispellings.

Chances are better than they were - we found on our old platform that even though we added these words the spell-checker wouldn't reflect the additions - I've passed along your request, and hope that it's possible over here.
Thanks for bringing it back up!

Hi Allen,
Are you still seeing this issue? I was able to post and did not get pulled up for EMC and SRDF.
Thanks,
Aashish

Looks like it is better than it was.
From my original post the only remaining "words" getting flagged are "CLARiiON" and "ECN". Not sure when this changed now, but it is a definite improvement.

ECN is getting flagged. Will need to fix this.
Clariion is odd. Seems to be working. Can you click on the little 'ABC' icon in the top right corner of the editor and confirm that it is not working. That worked on all three browsers. On Safari, it did 'flag' the word when typing but that seemed like a browser specific flag.
Thanks for testing.

I started a new document, copy/pasted the whole list from Asshish's post of Dec 10, and spell checked.
The results:
- in FoxPro:
only the last six are flagged.
Closer examination reveals that all unflagged words have two or more trailing spaces, while the flagged words don't.
If I put two or more space characters after a flagged word, or a space character before it, the spell checker passes it.
- in Internet Explorer:
almost all of the words are flagged, regardless of spaces.

OK, I think I see the issue as far as CLARiiON goes. If I type it incorrectly (as "Clariion") it doesn't get flagged... but it should. As I'm sure someone in the CLARiiON group will tell you, the capitalization is very specific for the product name.
I only use IE (Currently v7) so I can't speak to how this works in other browsers. Not really sure why the browser would have any impact, but then Internet technologies are not my area of expertise :-)
