Procedure to move MSDTC from one LUN to a new LUN
We are moving volumes from DMX3 storage to VMAX, we have a procedure to move the Quorum to a new volume and are using Open Replicator to move the data to the new targets but we have not been able to provide the server administrators with a intuitive procedure to move the MSDTC for a SQL cluster. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you,
Mark

Yes for the Quorum we had him create a new temp partition on the new volume, add that disk to his Failover Cluster and then shut down the stand by node. Then right click the cluster name, More actions, Quorum management or something. That asks where you want the cluster witness to be moved to. Worked fine. I'll check the primus. Thank you!

I am not familiar with moving the MSDTC (if it is migrated differently than a normal volume), but I am concerned about the quorum you mentioned.
Typically, the quorum is not moved. Instead, it is recreated on the new storage array to replace the old quorum and then you discard the old quorum device.
Please consider this when planning your migration strategy because in a new storage array the quorum data may not be applicable. You can review emc268683 for examples on replacing the quorum. (The article is for PPME, but the exmaples for the quorum drive replacement are not.)
