Powering NX4?

We just bought our first NX4 with two disk array's and a NAS head.  We have gotten some different statement's about how you power the NX4 SAN.  Some say you can plug the SAN directly into the UPS if the power cords will reach, and some say you need to first plug it into a PDP, and the PDP plugs into the SAN.  Which or both are true?  Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

not sure what you mean by connecting directly to SAN, it needs to be connected like this (system with SPS A and SPS B) :

Hi,

welcome to the forum

please take a look at the installation documents on Powerlink

Home > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > Celerra Tools > NX4, NX4FC

I'm not sure if you mean the buitin UPS (SPS A+B) or an external UPS

I'll assume with SAN you mean the storage controllers (Clariion SPs)

Its important that their power is connected to the builtin SPS - that ensures that in an event of a power loss we have enough juice left to save the write cache to the vault drives

If you installed the components in the correct stacking order then the power cords will reach there

Rainer
