Performance is Slow, Top Users, and Icons

so far i find it slow as molasses, going from section to section takes a while. Hopefully some more tweaks will follow to take care of that. So a couple of questions:

1) Software and Hardware top users are merged together now ?

2) Is there a description of the new icons, what do they mean ? Like i have 5 stars.

It's still a work in progress, not quite done so it's running like it's on _other_vendor DASD .  We should be seeing better performance, & scalability in the ensuing day or so.

Once we shake everything out, it will be a much better.

If you mouse-over the stars icon you should see a label for it - yours is Champion.

But I see your point - we used to have a legend of the point values appear.  We'll get a table posted into our FAQs.

Thanks for the feedback,

Erich

To add to Dave's reply, the platform caches and indexes are being updated as we use the system, and we should see performance improve.

We are keeping an eye on it, but let us know if you don't see it getting better.

Thanks,
Erich

We have moved away from segregating our content in terms of Hardware and Software - this distinction isn't as clear as it used to be!

The Top Users within a forum are still shown, and on the main page we show the Top 15.  Should we show more?

Thanks,

Erich

disappointing, documentum guys had a couple of years on hardware forums so now a lot of guys from hardware forums who contribute a lot don't even get any recognition.

Though it's true that they had a head start, some users from non-Software areas do show up, such as you and Stefano.  I think this will level out over time.

Still, if you feel that we need to highlight specific groups of users, we could look injto that.

Other ideas we've had in the years is to only count points over the past X months, and highlight the top current users.

I don't think we'll move back to the Hardware/Software hierarchy, but I understand your point.

I've therefore logged an /; for ECN to create a custom Top Users widget where I could select the reflected spaces.

Thanks as always for your great ideas.

Thanks Erich,

This is my opinion but i think when top users were separated, you could easily identify people who contribute a lot in your area of interest, people who are active in the community. Documentum forum top users are very active so I don't see that top list level out ever, unless Johnny Gee and the gang retire very soon

Erich,

performance has improved, not sure if anything has been done but it's much snappier now.

I would like to see top contributers from software and hardware areas separated, right now it's just one big list.

Hi,

>>>unless Johnny Gee and the gang retire very soon

Well, I'm quite sure he won't

However, I'm not sure yet whether I'm going to continue,so there is some hope

You are right on all counts.

We do try to acknowledge Top users in every space (and you can see them highlighted in that way), and with program like the MVP, we get visibility that is qualitative rather than quantitative.

Thanks again,

Erich

Hi,

Frankly, I would like to quote the Queen of England: "I'm not amused".

Maybe I'm just a grumpy old fellow, but so far, I can't see what we gained, but we certainly lost quite a bit.

And why on earth do we need a picture of the poster on every single reply????

Regards

Jørg

everywhere ?

It doesnt seem to be a problem with forums that dont sub-categories

the Top users display in https://community.emc.com/community/support/celerra?view=discussions looks plausible

Jørg,

is that just me or do you feel like flexibility has been reduced rather then improved. I know it's a pretty new interface but it's so awkward, not intuitive. You are a developer ..what do you think ?
