How does "ask a question" differ from "not asking a question"?

Hey there,

What is the difference whether I choose to mark the topic as a question or not?

I'm marking this one as a question because it obviously is one :)

if you mark it as question, you can award the points (1 correct, 2 helpful) for the deserving answers. You should always mark the post as a question so that you can reward the right/helpful answer.
