Help needed setting up a Symmetrix DMX800
Hi all! I've recently been given a DMX800 by an engineering school and this is my first attempt to deal w/ EMC hw.
I've been surprised not to be given any piece of software or even maintenance CD...
Anyway, is there anything I can do w/o EMC's sw to configure it? (or even resetting it to factory settings?) Using VPD/JTAG/ethernet ports?
Any help would be appreciated.

Your query is pretty broad, need to know.. what changes exactly you want to do?
However, its always better to consult EMC support with your query.

For now, I've access to nothing in the Symmetrix. I mean that the box boots, but I've no access to any web console tool via any of the ethernet ports.
I don't know which IP addresses as been set on each port, so I've no way to go on.
Is there anything I can do?

you don't manage a Symm as you would manage a Clariion. Brains of the box are controlled and configured by Symmwin application running on the service processor (laptop or 1U server) sitting in the control cabinet. EMC employees and certain partners have access to Symmwin, it's not something that customer can get in to. You can try zoning one of the FA ports to a host running Solutions Enabler, once zoned run symcfg discover. See if it discovers this box.
